Rachael Byrd

Rachael specializes in working with ancestral human remains from across the Southwest. She is originally from the Chicago suburbs and majored in anthropology at Fort Lewis College and the University of Arizona, with a focus on archaeology and biological anthropology. Her expertise emphasizes a full-spectrum approach that involves respectful field recovery, documentation, and repatriation. She has worked primarily in Colorado, Arizona, and northern Sonora, and also closely with ancestral remains from the Great Basin, Jordan, and Sudan. She enjoys hiking, camping, and family time.
